ISHR received the following update from 2022-23 Advocate Antonia Moreira of Brazil: “I am presiding over the Deliberative Council of Transmoras, working on strengthening the organization. Transmoras is launching a pilot project funded by the Ministry of Human Rights of Brazil, which aims to establish public policy for the social inclusion of LGBTI+ individuals. I have expanded my work in the organization’s third sector, currently coordinating the partnership strategy for the FEAC Foundation, focusing on designing projects that drive systemic change, engaging stakeholders, and promoting diversity.”
She shared the following reflections about her time in HRAP: “I think it's already a cliché to say there is a life before and after HRAP. Prior to the program, I was used to being backstage, working on the ground to support my mates. After HRAP, I gained confidence about my career and the impact my work could have on a systemic level. Now, I have a deeper understanding of the importance of networking, and access to a real network that has helped me several times since then with knowledge, connections and confidence. I knew a lot before, but to become a reference and authority I needed to travel abroad and gain more perspective, learn about realities that are different from mine, which wasn't possible without HRAP and its unique program. After two years, I still feel the impact of HRAP in my life, and I'm grateful to be part of this community.” Visit Antonia’s video on the HRAP YouTube Channel.
