On Thursday, May 1, 2025, ISHR hosted an event for its graduating students. Faculty, staff, returning and graduating students enjoyed an evening celebrating student accomplishments and were treated to special performances by graduating students. ISHR’s Executive Director, Joseph Slaughter, gave the opening remarks and Gergana Halpern, Deputy Director introduced the graduating class.

On April 23, twelve graduate and undergraduate human rights students gathered on Zoom to participate in ISHR's annual Human Rights Thesis Competition. During the event, students took hundreds of hours of thesis research in the human rights discipline and transformed it into 5-minute presentations.
Maria-Vera Azadian, (Human Rights Major, Columbia College) won the Faculty Choice Winner Undergraduate prize and Audience Choice Winner prize; Johanna Wassong, (M.A. Human Rights Studies, GSAS) won the Faculty Choice Winner Graduate prize.

Gaisu Yari, HRSMA 2018, was selected as a recipient of the 2025 Outstanding Recent Alumni Award. The award ceremony took place on April 28, 2025.The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS) Outstanding Recent Alumni Award honors individuals who have graduated within the past ten years and have excelled in early stages of their careers, exemplifying what GSAS alumni can achieve.
