Congratulations to 2014 graduate Saranya Misra, who was recently appointed as Communications Officer at UNICEF New York’s Division of Communications.

Misra graduated from Columbia University with a Master’s Degree in Human Rights Studies in May 2014. Her thesis focused on Political Activism through Social Media, including a comparative analysis of the topic across the Middle East and North Africa, South Asia, and China.

Congratulations to Patricia Guerrero, a 2003 Human Rights Advocates Program (HRAP) alumnus, on receiving the American Bar Association International Human Rights Award. Guerrero was recognized for her extensive work in Colombia defending victioms of sexual violence and women displaced by Colombia's armed conflict.

Alliance for Historical Dialogue and Accountability (AHDA) alumnus and co-director of the Truth Memory Justice Center (Hafiza Merkezi) in Istanbul, Turkey, Murat Çelikkan, has been jailed for his involvement in a protest against the closure of the Özgür Gündem daily newspaper.
