Congratulations to 2010 Advocate Agnes Apea Atim who was elected MP of Amolatar District in Northern Uganda. She is the founder and CEO of Hope Development Initiative which works to unlock the leadership, citizenship and entrepreneurial potential of  rural women through agribusiness. She earned a PhD in International Development from the University of Reading in the UK.

Indigenous Peoples Rights International and other organizations are co-organizing an information and learning session about the on-going negotiations on the proposed international treaty to regulate, in international human rights law, the activities of transnational corporations and other business enterprises. The sessions will elaborate on the importance of the negotiations to Indigenous Peoples, and how Indigenous Peoples could engage.

Columbia’s Institute for the Study of Human Rights (Indigenous Peoples’ Rights Program) and the International Indigenous Women’s Forum (IIWF/FIMI) will hold the Seminar Series as part of FIMI’s Global Leadership School of Indigenous Women, Program on Human Rights and International Advocacy Skills.

These seminars have been held at Columbia since 2013. The Seminar Series will be conducted remote in 2021.
