Background
The International Indigenous Women’s Forum (FIMI) is a global organization that brings together Indigenous Women’s organizations from the local, national, regional, and international levels across Asia, Africa, the Arctic, the Pacific, and the Americas. FIMI strengthens leadership, fosters alliances, builds capacity, and promotes the full participation of Indigenous Women in decision-making spaces related to their individual and collective rights.
FIMI implements its mission through four strategic programs:
- Political Participation & Advocacy
- Capacity Building
- Indigenous Women’s Fund – AYNI
- Research & Emerging Issues
This is a remote volunteer opportunity.
The Indigenous Women’s Fund AYNI is FIMI’s philanthropic mechanism to strengthen Indigenous Women’s organizations through funding, accompaniment, learning processes, and advocacy.
General Objective
To engage a student volunteer to support:
- Monitoring and knowledge systematization within the AYNI Fund, strengthening documentation of partner achievements on a cross-cutting theme as it is collective care.
- Research and systematization on collective care practices implemented by partner organizations, producing an analytical learning input for the Ayni Fund Programme.
Responsibilities
- Support to the AYNI Fund
- Collect, review, and analyze information related to grantee partners.
- Systematize outcomes, lessons learned, and good practices.
- Prepare a draft/final report.
- Coordinate regularly with the AYNI Fund team.
- Systematization on Collective Care
- Review program documents and partner’s reports.
- Identify and analyze practices related to collective care implemented by partners.
- Document trends, lessons, and innovative approaches.
Expected Deliverables
- Analytical document on collective care practices among partners, including examples and recommendations.
Duration & Conditions
- Volunteer engagement for 8 weeks (flexible according to mutual agreement).
Supervision
The student volunteer will be supervised by:
- The AYNI Fund Team (Ayni Fund Coordinator and MEL coordinator)
Required Profile
- Familiarity with civil society organizations working on human rights and social justice issues.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and writing skills.
- High intercultural sensitivity and commitment to human rights and collective rights.
- Knowledge of Spanish/French (not mandatory but desirable)
- Ability to work independently and manage digital tools effectively.
Application instructions
Applications will be accepted between December 1 st and January 15th. Students should fill out this Google Form where they should also upload their cover letter and resume. In your cover letter, please indicate the organizations that you are interested in working with, the relevance of this work to your studies and how your qualifications relate to the opportunities you are applying for. If you apply for more than one opportunity, please indicate in your cover letter your first and second choices and clearly explain why you are qualified for each opportunity. Applications will then be sent to the hosting organizations, which will request interviews with those students who they feel are the right match. The organizations will be asked to make their final decisions no later than March 1st. You will be asked to respond to their offer of placement within 5 business days so as to allow them to make another offer if you decide you are no longer interested.
