2019 Advocate Calls for Attending WorldPride DC 2025

The Washington Blade recently published an opinion piece by 2019 Advocate Mariano Ruiz of Argentina about the upcoming WorldPride DC 2025. Mariano writes: "If we set the precedent that global LGBTQI+ events cannot happen under right-wing or anti-LGBTQI+ governments, we will effectively disqualify a growing list of countries from hosting. That includes not only the U.S. under Trump, but Hungary, Italy, Uganda, Poland — and even my own country, Argentina, under Javier Milei. Yet ILGA World still plans to convene its 2027 conference in Buenos Aires, and rightly so.
ISHR wishes to congratulate the winners of the 2025 Human Rights Thesis Competition

On April 23, twelve graduate and undergraduate human rights students gathered on Zoom to participate in ISHR's annual Human Rights Thesis Competition. During the event, students took hundreds of hours of thesis research in the human rights discipline and transformed it into 5-minute presentations.
Maria-Vera Azadian, (Human Rights Major, Columbia College) won the Faculty Choice Winner Undergraduate prize and Audience Choice Winner prize; Johanna Wassong, (M.A. Human Rights Studies, GSAS) won the Faculty Choice Winner Graduate prize. 
Congratulations to HRSMA Alum, Gaisu Yari, on receiving the 2025 Outstanding Recent Alumni Award

Gaisu Yari, HRSMA 2018, was selected as a recipient of the 2025 Outstanding Recent Alumni Award. The award ceremony took place on April 28, 2025.The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS) Outstanding Recent Alumni Award honors individuals who have graduated within the past ten years and have excelled in early stages of their careers, exemplifying what GSAS alumni can achieve.
